I have started to work on the top of the figure while I wait for the stairs in the background to dry. Normally I would start from the top and work my way down, but in this case I wanted to work with a dry background so on the figure I'm working from the center out. I'm trying to gain a greater contrast between the figure and the background than in my previous works. We'll have to wait and see how it turns out.
